Been trawling all over the net for this solution (already had enough on my hands with configuring tomcat memory leaks) and your site provided the answer I was looking for - thanks for posting this up.  Using Apache to SSL is not only the easiest of possible solutions, it takes up far less computing and memory power to accomplish this.

Me says Atlassian should be linking this page to their documentation.

		<description>This was a huge help - I find it odd how you specify a base URL from within the Confluence interface but that helps not at all when the Confluence server gets the requests.</description>
